El VI Programa de Acción de la UE en materia de medio ambiente, lleva por título "Medio Ambiente 2010 el futuro está en nuestras manos" y marca las grandes líneas estratégicas para el desarrollo de las políticas ambientales de la Unión Europea durante la primera década del siglo XXI (2001-2010).

Decision-makers who guide urban development need the most reliable and current information possible upon which to act. Unfortunately a good deal of information – some contradictory, not all trustworthy – is in circulation regarding climate change and its potential effects upon cities. It is not always clear what represents the scientific consensus.

Este documento supón un instrumento de difusión e información da situación ambiental de Galicia. Os indicadores recollidos neste informe permiten concluír que aínda que aumentan as presións sobre o medio, tamén se desenvolven as políticas e as iniciativas encamiñadas a diminuír e a correxir as agresións sobre el. A partir dos datos que achega este primeiro informe de situación ambiental de Galicia dedúcese que queda un longo camiño por percorrer para acadar os niveis de calidade ambiental axeitado para a poboación galega.

Cities represent a challenge and an opportunity for climate change policy. As the hubs of economic activity, cities generate the bulk of GHG emissions and are thus important to mitigation strategies.

This book takes a careful look at the concept sustainable development: what it means; how it is affected by production, consumption and globalisation; how it can be measured, and what can be done to promote it. The OECD produces data, research and policy recommendations on many issues related to sustainable development, including climate change, co-operation with developing countries and corporate social responsibility.
